Function

The Arc Furnace is similar to its larger counterpart the Refinery in that it refines Ores into Ingots. However, it is limited to only refining Iron Ore, Nickel Ore, and Cobalt Ore. The arc furnace is 8x smaller, requires far fewer Components to build, refines at 1.2x the speed, and costs 40% less power to use.

Control Interface Menu
Options Comments
Toggle block Turns the device on, or off.
Name You can enter in your own custom name in the text box
Show on HUD If there is an Antenna attached to the same grid, this device will display its position on the players HUD
Use Conveyor System If "on" allows the arc furnace to automatically draw iron ore from other inventories connected to it

Orientation affects function? No
Has limited range? No
Can be placed on all sides? Yes
Has large conveyor port? Yes One is located on the front, and back sides.
Has small conveyor port? No

Usage

Operating the Arc Furnace is similar to the Refinery. A simple example of its use is below:

Example Tutorial
  1. Build/place your Arc Furnace anywhere you like
    ArcFurnace03.jpg
    • If connected to a Conveyor Network, the furnace will automatically draw Ores from another inventory. However, for this example we will be placing the ores in manually.
  2. While close to the large conveyor port door; open the inventory.

  3. Drag your ore from your inventory on the left, and place inside the Arc Furnace. It will now begin processing automatically.

Ore consumed per second = Refinery Speed * Blueprint Input / Blueprint Processing Time.
Ingots produced per second = Refinery Speed * Refinery Material Efficiency * Blueprint Output / Blueprint Processing Time.

Previous Versions

Prior to version 01.052 (16.Oct.2014), the Arc Furnace was only capable of refining Iron Ore.

Examples

Arc Furnace connected to a large containers in a network
Arc Furnace (middle) connected to a small a connector (right). It will pull ore from the small ship, then place them in the small container (left)
