The Interior Turret is an automatic weapon that will target and fire upon a variety of targets. Which targets it will fire upon depend on how the control panel settings have been configured, with the options being: decoys, meteors, enemy faction players, enemy faction ships, and anything that moves (be careful with this option). It will only engage these targets if it is within its maximum engagement range, which is another control panel setting.  It can also be controlled manually via a button on the control panel. All of these options can alternatively be accessed by adding them to the toolbar, or via buttons, timers, and/or programming.

Functional as of version 01.027.006, the interior turret is an automatic weapon which will target and fire upon the nearest Decoy or meteor within its operational range (adjustable via its control panel). In Survival Mode it must be loaded with 5.56x45mm NATO Magazines to fire.

Whilst it is presumably intended to be an anti-personnel weapon for the rooms and corridors of a ship, it is functionally identical to the Gatling Turret, with the only unique feature being that it is considerably smaller (and less powerful). Hence, it works perfectly well as an alternative in situations where a full-size turret won't fit, or if you cannot afford the resources in Survival Mode.

While not implemented at first, the Interior turret can attack players outside of its faction. It also acts as a smaller, less powerful version of the Gatling Turret, useful for areas where a Gatling turret won't fit.
