The Medical Room is a block available for large ships and stations. It has several functions. By activating the door, the player can change the appearance of their astronaut. While facing the medical console, press and hold the activate button to recharge your suit's energy and restore any missing health. Finally, it serves as a spawn point. All of these require the player to either have ownership of the Medical Room, or for it to be shared with them.

Spawning Mechanics

With the new permadeath system[1] added in version 1.037.012, players require an active, powered medbay, with appropriate permissions settings, in order to respawn. These will be shown as a list on death. If one does not exist, the player can either wait for one to be created(in multiplayer) or choose to respawn in a rescue ship(the same yellow ship used in the Asteroids scenario.) This will have severe consequences; the game will treat the player as an entirely new astronaut. The player will lose any faction ranks and block ownership. As such, it is extremely important for players to make sure they always have a place to respawn should they be killed.
