: Hey Sapphire, I generally do try to keep edits on critical templates to a minimum knowing the wiki does need to re-cache them. In cases where my previous edit(s) in fact breaks the template, it should be quickly reverted otherwise the entire wiki will have broken templates everywhere or ones feeding broken properties breaking a lot of parser magic. It's better to catch a template before it updates the entire wiki into a broken state, rather than wait a bit - since the wiki generally doesn't recache immediately anyway. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to make the templates translatable and how to nicely use #ask tables to get airtight lists (there is a way to do so, but it's not nice and easy), since currently airtightness lacks that - i'll figure out a way to do so soon enough. --Westeastnorth (talk) 11:24, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

::Actually that was entirely my fault to be quite fair, its 5am and the distinction between the two pages didn't really occur to me till 15 minutes ago. I reposted it here just so I could alert you to it. You thought of using the cargo ship template for perhaps the other ships besides the cargo ones? Such as KSH defaults, encounters, etc, etc. It's a fairly nice design. --Sapphire (talk) 11:55, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

:yes, actually i'm planning to do a whole template overhaul anyway - the ship template is mostly outdated and is in dire need for an expansion.-Westeastnorth (talk) 12:21, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

:really the problem with the cargo ships template is most of it's fields are very specific to cargo ships, right now only defenses and mass are really applicable for KSH defaults. --Westeastnorth (talk) 12:55, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Planets page

I noticed you created a Planets page. You think we could both work on them, and separate into Planet and Moon? I could start and make several headers for the pages if that works for you? --Sapphire (talk) 09:10, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Actually Napoleocool created the page, it's on my list of important stuff though. I'm planning a general overhaul of the page in the future, similar to gravity, electricity and thruster. I'd separate them anyway and simply redirect planets to planet. Westeastnorth (talk) 09:15, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Alright, I'll at least put the headers inside incase you're wanting too at some point. I will assist at a later point. As you probably noticed, I'm still heavily editing the dated Block pages. Almost done though. Such a mess ... If you want to discuss any wiki related. Make a new topic in the Space_Engineers_Wiki:Community_portal, or make one in the KSH forum. I get notified whenever a new post is made there. Happy editing --Sapphire (talk) 09:26, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Ah kay, the headers will be helpful for Planets anyhow. It's gonna need to be a pretty big mechanics page to adequately cover planet mechanics, so setting up framework will help people adding stuff to it. I've seen the blocks pages they're pretty old, but all the light blocks should be correct with their components although beyond that pretty empty. Heavy blocks are pretty much all wrong beyond the basic 5 or so blocks, the rest are missing metal grids. I'll try to a big rewrite of gravity soon. Thanks Sapphire! Westeastnorth (talk) 09:42, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Partially my doing. The "newer" armour blocks were added by me (kinda shocked they weren't added in the first place). However, I just haven't had the time to edit the material costs I've been so busy with everything else, so I left the wiki template default there for someone else to edit. I also added your missing Atmospheric thruster pages. I'm sure there are other missing pages, but I'll get around to it. --Sapphire (talk) 09:47, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Real Wheel pages

I read through the real wheel pages, but I don't believe they belong in the same categories as the other wheels. since they are represented as buildable in the wheels blocks page. People entering the wiki won't be able to comprehend the differences of both at first look. There are lots of invisible blocks that normal players cannot see, or build. But I believe they belong on the main block list only.

I'm only mentioning this because looking at it myself; first glace I was very confused on the Wheel Blocks page. If it is okay with you, I'd like to remove them from the categories that the other wheels share, since a normal player cannot actively build them or interact with them in any way. I plan to make a page dedicated to invisible blocks, but I'm still working on windows, and a few other major pages including world settings. --Sapphire (talk) 13:20, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Whoops, i didn't realise the Wheel Blocks had an #ask table, i thought it was hard-coded when i glanced at it. They definitely should not be appearing in that list, so yes the pages should be re-categorized. I'll do that myself, actually. The wheel blocks page though should explain the difference between the public and non-public wheel blocks as they are quite confusing unless people have looked into it. --Westeastnorth (talk) 15:55, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
It does, but if you believe it'd be better if I hard-code it in, than that's fine. It was just quicker for me to ask the wiki automatically. lol, But as for the special blocks; that's why I believe a Hidden Blocks page would be a good addition to the wiki. The only reason I often don't include very in-depth information like hidden blocks to most pages is because to the average user, they won't care or it'll confuse them. I like to simplify, and make information as easy to understand as possible. That being said, I'm still thinking of a way to mention it on block pages, and if that user is interested or a modder is looking for that information, they'll be redirected to the appropriate page. Perhaps it can be mentioned in the item template if it's associated or "linked" with other blocks. Kind of like how the piston and piston head are linked. The item template itself is very old, I was hoping at some point it would include an additional field like if it's "Airtight = Yes". --Sapphire (talk) 21:10, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

New field "Airtight" & respawn ships

Great job on that! That's been such a need since they included oxygen. Points for you! As for the respawn ships. I was thinking of making a primary page for the default ships in the game "encounters, cargo ships, KSH starter ships, and respawn" then having sub pages of each. What do you think?--Sapphire (talk) 15:49, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

It took me while to get around getting the associated blocks field up now named 'partof' as seen on the Piston Base page and airtight fields. I'm still not sure how to handle the categorisation of those pages, either being a simple airtight blocks category vs non-airtight blocks or something like airtight blocks, airtight upon orientation or never airtight blocks. As for the ships, i already wrote up a few stubs for many of the KSH ships Category:Prefabricated Ships. I'm not sure how to get them to be really put together with the rest of the ship pages - other than naming it Ships and reworking that page, I really dont like the current "cargo ships"/"encounters" set up which ended up happening since nobody set up a framework for those pages - the other wiki did a good job in this regard compared to us >.< Really it should be Ships -> Cargo Ships, Drones, Encounters, Pirates, KSH default ships, etc as you suggested. I'll probably write up a few drone stubs soon enough. Westeastnorth (talk) 16:07, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
I agree. I've been trying my hardest to get from page to page, but really ... there's only myself, and from time to time you and another individual. I've cleaned up quite a few, and got through world settings, survival and creative. I plan to change the main page slightly. There's many mechanics involved in the game. I might make a main page for Mechanics, then sub pages of each. ex) Mechanics -->Oxygen or Mechanics ---> Gravity
The ships page has always bothered the heck out of me because it's completely out dated, and it really doesn't disquish much between each type of ship in the game. Like exploration vs encounter, or encounter and drones, etc. My next project right now is to finally get into Planets and Moons. So I'll be focusing on those this week. I would like to see someone (if I can encourage it) to write up some information about Gravity#Natural_Gravity. It's a really huge factor in the planet update.--Sapphire (talk) 16:16, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
I will get around to fixing up Planets soon, as I really should add stuff from the reddit there about atmosphere calculations ie ion effectiveness, atmospheric thruster effectiveness, o2 density, atmosphere stuff, ores etc. The lack of maths latex plugin on this wiki makes things a tad messier to read maths equations - especially when writing up about physics stuff, despite this it shouldn't be too unreadable.Westeastnorth (talk) 16:29, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do about the math extension.--Sapphire (talk) 16:37, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Itembox edits

Hi there West! When making edits to the Template:Itembox for example, please try to keep the number of small edits to a minimum, at least not all at once. Each time the itembox is edited, the wiki has to recache all the pages it uses every time. Editing the template is completely okay, just try to make all the changes at once or in a little while after the previous one. --Sapphire (talk) 11:16, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Hey Sapphire, I generally do try to keep edits on critical templates to a minimum knowing the wiki does need to re-cache them.
