Main Function

The cockpit is a block that allows the player to control a craft. It allows the user to manually control movement, rotation, tools, and weapons.

Oxygen system

If a cockpit is connected to a source of Oxygen through it's conveyor ports, it will automaticly supply the player with oxygen and refill the internal O2 tank of the players spacesuit. (starting with version 01.074)

Game version: 1.079

Cockpit O2 capacity 60 O2 About 15.9 minutes worth of breathing

Game version: 1.078.009

Cockpit O2 capacity 10,000 O2 About 1.8 days worth of breathing

Placement

Cockpits will take up 3x3x3 small blocks on a small ship grid, while only 1 block on a large ship or station.

Note
  • The direction the cockpit is facing determines which is "forward, reverse, left, right, up and down".

Usage

The cockpit block is very simple to use. While the player may place as many as they like, only one is needed. For instructions on how use control, see Controls

Small Ships

Small ships are limited to only use the cockpit and the Fighter Cockpit, and not Control Station, or Flight Seat. This means that there only two options for controlling a small ship.

Large Ships

Large ships may use cockpits as if they were small ships. However, their use is limited and impractical in many situations. For example, the Flight Seat has full unobstructed view of its surroundings, while the cockpit not only has slight visibility issues, but is also lower to the ground as well.

Stations

While the cockpit may be placed on stations, it is limited to only controlling systems as movement is impossible.
